thanks for putting it all in one place! Also worth noting that the GEC is among the most investigated offices at State. It has had a few IG investigations. In addition, the Public Diplomacy Commission (sits inside of State, reports to Congress) reports on it and other PD programs every year.

Thanks, Nina. Very informative and thorough.

Egads, more frightening, outrageous acts being perpetuated by this horrid current government. One thing missing from this well-written article: WHAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT THIS? What can us everyday Americans who yearn for the democratic values we had once known, do to elevate, then interrupt this new nightmare? What activism must occur to mitigate the effects of this dystopian act of terror by our own government?

For something like this, I reach out directly to friends with a legal or journalism or teaching background — making the connection between this “foreign policy” topic (which, sadly, causes most Americans’ eyes to glaze over instantly) and the domestic issues they care deeply about like free speech and government manipulation of media. You’re probably tired of hearing “contact your representative” but it matters if Congress conducts needed oversight here. Thank you for your help!!

Sigh. From the very red state of Indiana, I call our elected bozos quite often.

We have a vibrant group of citizens engaged in our Evansville Resistance movement, which at least brings me a sense of camaraderie. I did share your frightening post on my FB page, the only social media I have.

Simply outstanding work. I’d suggest wider distribution, somehow. Maybe an OpEd piece in the NYT or the like.
